Caroline Tokarski is Professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Bordeaux and external Professor at the National Academy of Pharmacy. She is Director of the Bordeaux Proteome Platform and co-Director of the CNRS international laboratory ARCHE with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. She also leads the European platform HS_OMICS within E-RIHS / IPERION HS infrastructure.

Her research focuses on methodological developments for analysis of biological macromolecules of native or transformed organic materials using high resolution mass spectrometry. A major part of her activities investigates trace level analysis and study of complex matrices. She introduced proteomics to the field of Cultural Heritage with first applications to artworks and archaeological objects, allowing the accurate structural characterization of ancient proteins, and she championed a robust platform of omics approaches (proteins, lipids, polysaccharides), within the EU and international infrastructures for Cultural Heritage. With her group, her current work focuses on structural macromolecular assemblies and molecular networks in ancient samples using minimally invasive workflows, and macromolecules mapping.

Caroline Tokarski is highly involved in European and International training networks for cultural heritage, and she is involved in the deployment and implementation of omics mass spectrometry-based workflows inside international museums and associated laboratories.
